John's large-scale works delve into the dynamic interplay of natural forces such as rivers, sand dunes, tides, and seasonal winds. Rather than depicting physical forms, Berrick focuses on the power of the spaces between, aiming to convey the atmosphere and emotional shifts as seasons change.

Before any body of work, John fully immerses himself in the landscape. He creates sketches and studies en plein air to capture the essence of that place, which is then used to develop work back at the studio.
